  • Background: Teeth can be at risk of damage such as dental erosion. Factors that lead to dental erosion can be divided into two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. External factors, for example, include exposure of acidic water which results in tooth demineralization. Peat water is acidic water with such a low pH that is expected to cause dental erosion. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of peat water and the risk of dental erosion among the people of Dusun 3 KTM Sungai Rambutan Ogan Ilir. Methods: The sample of this study involved all residents of Dusun 3 Sungai Rambutan KTM who did not have GERD. The incidence of dental erosion was measured through the Eccless and Jenskins index. To measure pH of the water the water sample was brought to the laboratory and subsequently measured using a pH meter. Data from the observation were analyzed using the Spearman test. Results: The results of the test indicated a significant relationship, p = 0.001 (p <0.05). Conclusion: From this result, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the use of peat water and the risk of dental erosion among the people of 3 KTM Rambutan Ogan Ilir.
