  • The research was conducted on May until October 2016 at Laboratory of Machinery and Workshop of Agriculture Department, Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatera. The objectives of this research was to determine the effect of knife surfaces, screen size and number of disc rotation to pin mill grinder performance on milling white pepper. The method on his research was completely randomized factorial design (CRD) using three factors and three replicatons. First factor was the type of pin surface P1 (plain) and P2 (coarse), second factor was screen size D1 (1⁄2 mm) and D2 (1 mm), and third factor was the number of disc rotation V1 (2100 rpm), V2 (2300 rpm) and V3 (2500 rpm). The parameters observed were working capacity of pin mill grinder, grinding efficiency and the fineness. The results showed that treatment P2D2V3 was the treatment that produce the highest machine capacity, which is 2.07 kg/hour, meanwhile the lowet P1D1V1, it was is 1.75 kg/hour. The highest efficiency was produced on treatment P2D2V3 it was 95.33% meanwhile the lowest was on treatment P1D1V1 it was 88.00%. The highest percentage fineness was on treatment P2D1V3 it was 76.44 %, meanwhile the lowest was on P1D2V1 it was 44.29%. Overall, for obtaining the best pin mill grinding results was P2D2V3 treatment with working capacity 2.07 kg/hour, 95.33% grinding efficiency and 73.08% fineness percentage.
