  • The fertilizer that given conventionally can not be absorbed by plant soptimally, in addition the fertilizer can be washed, evaporated, and absorbed by competitor plants and weed. Conventional fertilization also can pollute the environment can toxicize the soil. The objective of this research was to know the growth of California papaya and to know ability of roots to absorb Nitrogen nutrient by Nutrient Feeding Method. Research was done at Shade House and Plant Physyology Laboratory of Agronomy Departement, Sriwijaya University Indralaya from February 2015 until April 2015. This research was arranged in a completely randomized design with four fertilizer treatments, P0 (60 g) given conventionally, P1 (8 g), P2 (18 g), and P3 (28 g) given in Nutrient Feeding Method with five replications. The parameters observed includeplant height, amount of leaves, leaf chlorophyll, dry weight, and %N of leaf. The result showed that plant growth given fertilizer in Nutrient Feeding Method was better than plant given fertilizer conventionally.
