  • Electrical energy plays an important role in various aspects of life to support all human needs and activities. Over time, the industry in Indonesia is growing, which causes an increase in electricity energy needs. PT. PLN (Persero) South Sumatra Power Plant, Keramasan power generator and control sector of Palembang City, especially the Keramasan gas and steam power plant (PLTGU) which is one of the manifestations of the performance of the Indonesian government in increasing the electricity demand that is able to provide total power capacity 2 x 40 MW. Whether the performance of a generator is good or not can be seen from the value of its thermal efficiency. Therefore, a study was conducted to compare the actual average efficiency values against the efficiency values under the design condition. The study was conducted by taking the design condition data and the actual condition. The calculation of the data obtained from the two conditions was then compared with the value of the efficiency of the power plant as a benchmark for performance comparison. The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance of the Keramasan unit 1 PLTGU including Gas Turbines, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), Steam Turbines, and PLTGU cycles on the design conditions. From the analysis it was found that the average value of thermal efficiency in the actual condition decreased from the design condition. For the efficiency value of gas turbines in the design condition is 36.33%, while in the actual condition is an average of 31.03% . The efficiency value of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) in the design condition is 81.56%, whereas in the actual condition is an average of 77.76%. For the efficiency of a steam turbine in the design condition is 23.03%, while in the actual condition is an average of 21.935%. For PLTGU cycle efficiency value in the design condition is 51.78%, while in the actual condition is an average of 46.95%.
