- The research objective was to determine the role of loneliness to academic stress in student at X University fouth year semester. The study hypothesis is loneliness has a role to academic stress in student at X University. fourth year semester The study population was fourth year semester student at X University. The study used nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling technique and set 150 people as the number of the respondents. Loneliness was measured used aspect from Gierveld dan Raadschelders (Peplau & Perlman, 1982).Academic stress was measured used symptoms from Hariharan and Rath (2008). Data analyzed using simple regression analysis. The result of the regression analysis showed value of R=0,365; F=22,785 and p=0,000 (<0,05). It showed that loneliness has significant role to the academic stress. The contribution of R square = 0,133, which means the magnitude of the role of loneliness in influencing academic stress was 13,3%. Thus the hypothesis is accepted that there is a role of loneliness towards in student at X University fouth year semester.
