- The purpose of this study were: 1) To measure the communication behaviour of women farmers in the usage farm yard with permaculture method in horticulture plants Tanjung Seteko Village Indralaya Subdistrict 2) To measure the level of participation of women farmers in the usage farm yard with permaculture method in horticulture plants Tanjung Seteko Village Indralaya Subdistrict 3) To analyze the communication behavior correlation with the level participation of women farmers in the usage farm yard with permaculture method in horticulture plants Tanjung Seteko Village Indralaya Subdistrict. This study was conducted in Tanjung Seteko Village Indralaya Subdistrict. The data collection was conducted in March 2015 until April 2015. The location was determined purposively based on consideration that women farmers in this village have been implementing permaculture method. This study used study case method toward women farmer groups in Tanjung Seteko Village which is implementing permaculture method in horticulture farming. The sampling method was conducted by the census which is takes all member of women farmers group as many as 30 people. The communication behaviour of women farmers in the usage farm yard with permaculture method in horticulture plants Tanjung Seteko to be at the high criteria, based on the average score is 28,13. This matter shows that women farmers have a good skill in looking for, sharing, receiving, and clarifying information about permaculture method by interpersonal communication, mass media exposure, and cosmopolitan, because of the assistance of the communication mitra, such as farming agricultural extension, the other women farmer, and the outside community within the group. The level participation of women farmer in the usage farm yard with permaculture method in horticulture plants Tanjung Seteko to be at the high criteria based on the average score is 40,57. This matter shows that the level of participation of women farmers in implementing permaculture method is very good. The high level of participation of women farmer in permaculture method was helped by interpersonal communication activity, the exposure toward mass media and the cosmopolitan in discover permaculture method. The result of analysis toward communication behavior correlation with the level participation of women farmers in the usage farm yard with permaculture method in horticulture plants Tanjung Seteko Village Indralaya using the spearman rank statistic test on α = 0,05, t significance test of 0,597, while t table is 0,364, t greater that t table (0,597 > 0,364), so Ho is rejected. This matter shows that there’s a positive relationship between communication behaviour and the level of participation of women farmers in Tanjung Seteko Village Indralaya Subdistrict. Result of calculation declares that there’s a positive relationship Universitas Sriwijaya between communication behaviour and the level of participation in implementing permaculture method, where the communication behaviour has influenced the level of participation. If the communication behaviour is low, then the level of participation of women farmers in implementing permaculture method will be low as well. And if the communication behaviour is high, then the level of participation of women farmers in implementing permaculture method will be high as well.
