  • In the research of testing antihyperlipidemic activity of ethanol extract of Chromolaena odorata leaf to male wistar rats induced with high fat feed has been done. The purpose of the research is to find out the effect of ethanol extract of Chromolaena odorata leaf to the decreased total amount of cholesterol dan LDL (low density lipoprotein) level and to see ED50 from the variation dose of Chromolaena odorata leaf. Chromolaena odoratacontains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, steroids, and phenolics, that have antihyperlipidemic activity. Wistar male rats were divided into 5 groups, negative control group (sodium CMC 0,5%), positive control group (simvastatin 0.193 mg/200 gBW), group I (ethanol extract kirinyuh’s leaves with dosage 100 mg/200 gBW), group II (ethanol extract kirinyuh’s leaves with dosage 200 mg/200 gBW), and group III (ethanol extract kirinyuh’s leaves with dosage 400 mg/200 gBW). The rats were given high-fat supplement and propylthiouracil for 15 days to increase cholesterol, and the extract was given for the next 15 days. The result showed ethanol extract kirinyuh’s leaves could decreased total cholesterol level and LDL level with %decreased in total cholesterol (%PKKT) and %decreased in LDL (%PKLDL) of group I is 16,81% and 22,50%, group II is 18,60% and 25,58%, and for group III is21,86% and 27,57%. The result showed that ethanol extract of kirinyuh’s leaves has antihyperlipidemic activity and significantly different from negative control (p>0.05). Based onthe percentage relation ofdecreased total cholesterol and LDL levelsto dose, then the effective dose 50 (ED50) value of ethanol extract Kirinyuh’s leave is 2176 mg/200 gBW for total cholesterol and for LDL reduction level is 3123 mg/200 gBW.
