- PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) is one company in Indonesia which is engaged in coal mining. Area mining operations of PT. KPC is located in Sangatta and Bengalon, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Mining activities conducted by PT. KPC include land clearing, stripping the top soil, stripping overburden, coal mining (excavation, loading, hauling), backfilling and reclamation. Top soil removal activities undertaken by Mining Services department section rehab using excavator backhoe Komatsu PC 800 and CAT 740 ADT and Volvo A35F Hungry Board as hauling equipment. In an effort to optimize the use of hauling equipment, made to improve productivity digging loading equipment and hauling equipment by increased the number of stuffing or passing from 4 to 5 passing. Volume theory of top soil will be moved in the Pit Inul Middle for the month of November 2015 is 214.165 BCM. Theoretically with 4 passing (1 excavator backhoe and 8 articulated dump truck) only material capable of carrying as many as 194.732 BCM (19.433 BCM less than the target) with productivity 295,05 BCM/hour, and with 5 passing the production digging loading equipment and hauling equipment of 228.961 BCM (over 14.761 BCM of the target) with productivity 346,91 BCM/hour. To achieve the production target in November 2015, the company added the number of passing to 5 passing. This research was conducted also for trial use 5 passing that will be applied to other areas of top soil stripping. Target removal of top soil when using 4 passing reached during 33 days (more than 1 month). After the addition of the passing to 5 times, stripping the top soil production target is reached on day 28 with a total production of 214.592 BCM.
