  • This research aims to determine the species and diversity of phytoplankton through diversity index and dominance index in the waters of the former tin mining (kolong) on Bangka Island. This research used descriptive method, the determination of location of the research was carried out purposively, and sampling was carried out by composite technique. Phytoplankton were taken from three kolongs 35, 40 and 50 years old. Observing parameters were phytoplankton’s number of species, diversity and dominance index, also the abundance value, as well as physicochemical factors. The results found 35 species of phytoplankton belonging to 13 classes, 21 order, and 28 genus. The highest diversity index of phytoplankton found on 35 years old kolong and the lowest on 40 years old kolong. The highest dominance index found on 40 and 50 years old kolong, while the lowest on 35 years old kolong. The highest abundance value found on 40 years old kolong and the lowest on 35 years old kolong. This results contributed in the form of Student Worksheets (LKPD) which are expected to be a learning sources for Biology lesson in High School of 10th grade.
