  • This study is entitled as Implementation of Mental Health Curative Efforts based on Law of Indonesia Number 18 of 2014 at Ernaldi Bahar Hospital in South Sumatra Province. The background is due to the rampant of mental disorder and mental hospital, lack of psychiatric experts, and also inadequate mental health support facilitiesespecilally in South Sumatra region . The aim of this research is to see how Mental Health Act was implemented in Ernaldi Bahar Hospital to fight for the rights of People with Mental Disorders that have been ignored for centuries. The theory used is Merilee S. Grindle’s (1980) implementation theory which consists on the contents of the policy and context of implementation by using a qualitative approach in the form of interviews, observation, literature study, and documentation. Data analysis techniques applied are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of Law of Indonesia Number 18 of 2014 at Ernaldi Bahar Hospital concerning the Effort of Mental Health Curative had run quite well, although a number of problems were found, such as as many people who were reluctant to go to mental hospitals for fear of being ostracized and considered "bad" by societ, the lack of psychiatric specialists due to the limited recruitment of civil servants in specialist fields, and there are still many medical support facilities that found threadbare due to the limited budget and hospital receipts from operating income. Responding to these problems, Ernaldi Bahar Hospital should have made more move proactively to open the widest network and establish cooperation in mental health aspect with other sectors so that the Mental Health Curative Efforts Policy implemented is able to end the stigma and discriminative trait
