  • The magnitude of cutting force and power was necessary information in planning appliance machine, because that was the starting point for every counting and planning analysis of each appliance. Few factors of high power cause produced on machinery process were cutting rate, cutting profound and consuming moves. This research would like to analyze the consumed power in side milling process. This research conduct 16 tests with machinery condition based on CCD (Central Composite Design) planning with three parameters of cutting which were cutting rate, consuming moves and cutting profound. During the machinery process of cutting fluid, the fluid used was coconut oil by spreading it on active cutting surface. Based on the data analysis result from the testing process, it was found out that the correlation of cutting rate toward consumed power value in optimum cutting condition was occurred in Vc on the amount 16,33m.min while the correlation of consuming moves and cutting profound toward consumed power value was the bigger consuming moves and cutting profound, the bigger the consumed power value. The highest consumed value in this research was showed on testing variable with Vc = 31,09 m/min, fz = 0,075 mm/flute, and aaxial = 7,5 mm in the amount of 803,25 watt. While the lowest consumed power value in this research was noted on testing variable with Vc = 9,58 m/min, fz = 0,1 mm/flute, and aaxial = 5 mm in the amount of 693 watt and in variable Vc = 16,33 m/min, fz = 0,075 mm/flute and aaxial = 3,3 mm in the amount of 683 watt. The analysis result of the consumed power showed an effiency machine during the testing process in the amount of 47,5 % and the mechanical efficiency on the machine used was 79,5 % s.d 81 % on each testing.
