  • In Indonesia, asthenopia is one of the symptoms that is often found because of continuous eye interaction with the use of computers. People who play a game online for hours are risk of getting asthenopia such as headaches, blurred vision, eye discomfort and myopia. The study aimed to analyze the risk factor of asthenopia on internet cafe gaming users in Kecamatan Ilir West 1 Palembang. The study was conducted by observational analytic with a cross sectional design. Data were obtained by means of the structured questionnaire, ruler, and lux meter. The sample was selected by cluster random sampling. Data analysis of this study used chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. The proportion of asthenopia on internet cafe gaming users was 61.1%. The length of computer usage and monitor distance were the variables that had correlations with the asthenopia. The most influencing factor was the length of computer usage with a risk of 4.308 (95% CI = 1,450-12,797). Asthenopia could be felt by internet cafe gaming users when the length of computer usage wasn’t accordance with the recommendations or more than 4 hours. Computer users are expected to wink more often for reducing the risk of asthenopia.
