KARAKTERISASI GAMBUT DI KESATUAN HIDROLOGI HUTAN LINDUNG GAMBUT LONDERANG KABUPATEN TANJUNG JABUNG TIMUR PROVINSI JAMBI

- Londerang Protected Forest located at East Tanjung Jabung District,Jambi Province. Total area of Londerang is 12,500 ha that boundaries by 10 villages. Londerang Forest has been burning since 2008 and 2015 and only 30 % natural conditions left. To prevent wildfires in the future, the goverment still conducting re-wetting as mitigation on Londerang Protected Forest to recover from past disaster. This research was conducted to identify peat soil characterization of Peatland at East Tanjung Jabung District, Jambi Province. Research method used semi-detailed descriptive survey and laboratory analitic. Determination of sampling done by desctription which each sample represents 25 ha with total 30 sample and 750 ha. Parameters which observed were decomposition degree and peat thickness, water content, acidity, bulk density, dominant vegetations, and water table. Londerang peat protected forest had > 3 meters in depth with average of decomposition was fibric and water table 23 cm below soil surface. Londerang was secondary forest and covered by Akasia, Pakis, and Belidang with acidity value 4,5 - 6. The average of water content was 839 % on fibric and the lowest bulk density was 0,10 g cm-3. Londerang Protection Forest can’t be used for agriculture as president dekrit No 32/1992 and law No 22/1992 about peat regulation which has > 3 m in depth identified as protected forest.
