If the condition of high blood sugar levels are not handled properly, gradually can develop into diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this study was to know the correlation between sleep quality, smoking habits, nutritional status and physical activity with fasting blood sugar levels in factory workers PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang. The research design used was cross sectional, with 55 male workers PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang obtained by simple random sampling technique. The data were collected by questionnaire and observation in the form of anthropometric measurement and fasting blood glucose examination. Based on the result of the research, it was found that the prevalence of hyperglycemia (fasting blood glucose ≥ 100 mg / dl) in factory workers of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang was 45.5%. The variables related with fasting blood sugar were nutritional status (p-value = 0.000) and physical activity (p-value = 0.010), whereas variables unrelated to fasting blood sugar were sleep quality (p-value = 0.209) and smoking habit (p-value = 0.101). This study suggests that workers who have high fasting blood sugar levels should pay attention of food consumed, reduce the consumption of sweet foods and high sugar drinks. Workers should be a routine medical check up, refreshing and rest enough to prevent the risk of diabetes mellitus and the risk of other degenerative diseases.
