- This research is motivated by the circulation and use of narcotics among adolescents who are still rife in Ogan Komering ilir. This study aims to detennine the effectiveness of the prevention of drug abuse among adolescents in Ogan Komering ilir. The method used in this study is a qualitative methods. Data collection techniques were conducted through in- depth interviews and documentation studies. The theory used in this research is the theory of open systems according to Richard M Steers, where effectiveness can be seen based on three dimensions, they are input, process and output. Based on the results of research in the field showed that input, process and output do not yet effective. The conclusion of this research is that the effectiveness of the prevention of drug abuse among adolescents in Ogan Komering ilir (study at the National Narcotics Agency Ogan Komering ilir) has not been effectively implemented. This study provides suggestions for effective prevention of drug abuse in adolescents (studies at the National Narcotics Agency Ogan Komering ilir) can work well and effectively then: (1) Need for communication and cooperation between National Narcotics Agency and District, Police and related Institutions to assist resources in preventing narcotics abuse, (2) Anti-drug hazard awareness or outreach activities must be further enhanced, and (3) prioritizing the use of traditional media
