- This research entitled Implementation of Drug Abuse Prevention Policy by the National Narcotics Agency of South Sumatera Province in 2017. This research was motivated by the problem of cases of drug abuse and illicit trafficking, especially in the increasingly widespread province of South Sumatra. Although there is a drug abuse prevention policy from the National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of South Sumatra Province, the number of drug cases is increasing every year. The purpose of this research was to determine the performance of the Implementation of Drug Abuse Prevention Policy by the National Narcotics Agency of South Sumatra Province. The type of research used is descriptive with qualitative methods. Data collection techniques use observation techniques, in-depth interviews and documentation. The theory used in this research is the theory of policy implementation by Donald Van Meter and Van Horn, which suggests that there are six variables that affect the performance of policy implementation, namely standards and policy objectives, resources, communication between organizations, characteristics of implementing agencies, attitudes of implementers, and conditions economic, social and political. The results of this research indicate that the Performance Implementation of Drug Abuse Prevention Policy by the National Narcotics Agency of South Sumatra Province has achieved performance targets but based on the implementation indicators there are still some obstacles including the lack of operational funds for drug abuse prevention activities so that prevention activities are also limited, and coordination is minimal between the Provincial National Narcotics Agency and Partner Institutions. The results of this research recommend that the policy be modified so that it is more practical by paying attention to suggestions such as greater budget support from the National Narcotics Agency of South Sumatra Province, as well as improving continuous communication with target groups, as well as expanding the range of implementation of prevention activities in South Sumatra, especially in District / City that does not have a National Narcotics Agency (BNN) vertical agency.
