  • Typhoid fever is a systemic disease caused by Salmonella typhi which occurs in areas of bad sanitation, and contaminated food or beverages. This study aims to determine factors related to the occurrence of typhoid fever in the residential population of musi river in Seberang Ulu Palembang. This research is an observational study with a case control method. There were 106 samples consisting of 53 cases and 53 controls. The results of data analysis showed that of the 10 variables studied there were 7 related variables, namely socio-economic, education, personal hygiene, toilet facilities, quality of clean water, feces disposal facilities, garbage disposal facilities. Based on the results of multivariate analysis, the variable waste disposal facility is the variable most associated with 3,557 Odds Ratio; 95% Cl 0.951 - 13.229. It was concluded that the Waste Disposal Facility was the dominant factor influencing the incidence of typhoid fever, so it was suggested to carry out counseling efforts for the population to increase environmental awareness and provide waste disposal infrastructure facilities to meet the requirements of a healthy environment, and look for trash transport officers to be transported to temporary landfills..
