- The purpose of this research were to : (1) Analyzing the level of rice consumption of the urban community and the village community based on the level of income in the 27 Ilir Sub-District of Palembang City and Simpang Pelabuhan Dalam Village. (2) Calculating the proportion of household income expenditure on rice consumption in urban communities and rural communities. (3) Analyzing the factors that influence the level of consumption of urban communities and rural communities. This research was conducted on April until Mei in Palembang City and Simpang Pelabuhan Dalam Village. The research method used is survey method, with the sampling method was dispropotionate stratified random sampling . The results of this research show that (1) There differences of rice consumption level of citizen and rural society, (2) Proportion of expenditure from household income to rice consumption in 27 Ilir Subdistrict 13 percent at high income, 19 percent at medium income and 35 percent to low income. Household income to rice consumption in Simpang Pelabuhan Dalam Village 29 percent at high income, 37 percent at medium income and 45 percent to low income.
