  • This study was aims to determine the performance of ground sieving machines equipped with fingers type chopping devices taking into account the type of soil and the speed of the chopping cylinder. This research was conducted in November 2018 to April 2019 at the Machinery Workshop of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The method used was a Factorial Randomized Group Design (RAKF) with two research factors, namely soil type (A) and cylinder speed of chopper (B) with three levels of treatment and each combination of treatments was repeated three times. The parameters of this study were electric motor power, power transmission, effective capacity and separation capacity. The results of this study indicate that the highest value of electric motor power was found in the combination of A2B3 treatment that was equal to 208.92 W with histosol soil type and chopping cylinder speed 130 rpm. The highest power transmission value was found in the A2B3 treatment combination of 1.46% with histosol soil type and 130 rpm chopper cylinder speed. The highest effective capacity value was found in the A3B3 treatment combination of 86.29 kg / hour with ultisol soil type and 130 rpm chopper cylinder speed. The highest separation capacity value was found in the A3B3 treatment combination which was 1.30 kg/minute with ultisol soil type and 130 rpm chopper cylinder speed.
