  • Diuretic activity test of ethanol extract of beluntas leaves (Pluchea indica Less.) Has been carried out on male white rats of the Wistar strain. Beluntas leaves contain flavonoids which are potential as one of the diuretic agents. The total flavonoid content contained in beluntas leaves was 55,72 mg/g extract. This study used male white wistar rats divided into 5 groups, consisting of the normal control group (Sodium CMC 1% 2 mL/200 gBW), positive control group (furosemide 20 mg/kgBW), and 3 dose groups treated with leaf ethanol extract beluntas namely 150, 300 and 600 20 mg/kgBW. The test animals not given initial treatment were only acclimatized for one week. The urine volume of the test animal was measured after treatment every one hour for 6 hours. Diuretic activity tests are carried out in a cage of metabolites that can accommodate mouse urine. The urine volume of mice is measured and analyzed qualitatively on sodium, potassium, and chloride ions. Furosemide as a positive control resulted in the highest urine volume of 5,48 mL. Ethanol extract of beluntas leaves at a dose of 600 mg / kgBW produced a total urine volume of 4.16 mL and had the highest diuretic activity compared to other extract doses of 60%. The ED50 value was 491.2076 mg / kgBB which had diuretic activity in the treatment dose of 600 mg / kgBW with a significance value (P> 0.005).The furosemide and ethanol extract of beluntas leaves showed positive results in the urine of the mice contained sodium, potassium, and chloride ions.
