  • Potential research has been carried out diuretic extract of mindi leaf ethanol ( Melia azedarach L) against male white rats Wistar strain . Mindi leaf contains flavonoids which are potential as one of the diuretic agents. The total flavonoid content contained in the mindi leaf was 46.86 mg / g extract. This study used male white wistar rats which were divided into 5 groups, consisting of the normal control group (1% Na CMC 2 mL / 200 gBB), positive control group (20 mg / kgBB furosemide), and 3 groups of extract treatment doses ethanol leaf mindi namely 250 , 500 , and 1000 mg / kgBB. The test animals not given initial treatment were only acclimatized for one week. The urine volume of the test animal was measured after treatment every one hour for 6 hours. Diuretic activity tests are carried out in a cage of metabolites that can accommodate mouse urine. The urine volume of mice is measured and analyzed qualitatively on K + , Na + , and Cl - ions . Furosemide as a positive control produces the most urine volume, which is equal to 5.48 ml. The ethanol extract of mindi leaves at a dose of 1000 mg / kgBB resulted in a total urine volume of 4.10 mL and had the highest diuretic activity compared to other extract doses of 58.18 %. ED 50 value of 828.775 mg / kgBB. At furosemide and Mindi leaf ethanol extract showed positive results in mouse urine contained ions K +, Na + and Cl -. Based on this study it was concluded that leaves of mindi ethanol extract has the potential for diuretics with the same mechanism of action as furosemide.
