HUBUNGAN ANTARA OBESITAS DENGAN DIABETES MELLITUS PADA PENDUDUK USIA ≥ 40 TAHUN DI INDONESIA (STUDI KOHORT RETROSPEKTIF ANALISIS DATA IFLS 2007 DAN IFLS 2014)

- Diabetes mellitus is one of the diseases that is a major problem in the world. The total incidence of diabetes mellitus has always increased, 151 million in 2000 to 425 million in 2017 and it is estimated that in 2045 cases of diabetes mellitus will increase to 629 million cases. Indonesia is included in the top 10 countries which has the highest prevalence of diabetes mellitus in the world. This study uses IFLS 2007 and 2014 data. The aim of this study is to look at the relationship between obesity and diabetes mellitus after being controlled with confounding. This study used a quantitative method with a retrospective cohort study design and sampling using multistage random sampling which obtained samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria of 2034 respondents. The inclusion criteria for this study; did not suffer from diabetes mellitus at the time of enumeration of the IFLS 2007 and exclusion criteria; loss to follow up, respondents answered not knowing, respondents were pregnant at the time of enumeration IFLS 2007, respondent’s data were out of sync and missing data. Data analysis in this study used complex sample analysis with three stages of analysis, univariate, bivariate and multivariate. The results showed that there was a relationship between obesity and diabetes mellitus after controlled with waist circumference, hypertension and physical activity (RR = 1,988; 95% CI = 1,679 - 2,354). Suggestion for the study are expected that community could do physical activity regularly, diligently to screen blood sugar. The elementary school is expected to be able to provide education about healthy lifestyles so obesity can be prevented early and for health agencies it is expected to further optimize socialization regarding the dangers of diabetes.
