- This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between creative thinking skills and the ability to write short stories in class X Palembang State High School 18 Palembang. The research method used is a survey method with a correlational approach. The sample of this study was the class X I.A 2 students totaling 25 students and the X I.A 3 class totaling 25 students. Sampling is used with the Simple Random Sampling technique. Data collection techniques use the test of each variable. The data analysis technique measured is simple correlation and regression. Calculation of data using the SPSS version 21 program. The results of his research are the ability to think creatively and the ability to write short stories have a positive relationship with a value of R2 0.531. There is a positive relationship between creative thinking skills and the ability to write short stories. Keywords: creative thinking ability, ability to write short stories.
