  • There are various ways to such as inheriting, grants, exchanges, and selling. The increasing number of people who need land for not only for housing, economic idevelopment, socio-cultural, and technological advancements but also for plantations, livestock, factories, offices, entertainment venues, and roads for transportation. This was a normative juridical research method. Research questions were; What was the process of buying and selling land by using letter of inheritance statement from the sub-district? What was the validity of the transfer of land rights based on such letter? What were legal consequences of the letter of inheritance statement issued by sub-district for the Chinese ethnicity which was used as the basis of sale and purchase of inheritance land? It was found that the land purchase can be done on the basis of letter of inheritance statement from sub-district’s head to the notary / PPAT with legal basis of law article 15 paragraph 1 that notary has authority to make authentic deed regarding all acts, agreements, and stipulations required by legislation or desired by those concerned to be stated in the authentic deed, guaranteeing the certainty of the date of making the deed, storing the deed, giving the grosse, copy and quotation of the deed. All of the above as long as the deed is not assigned or exempted to other officials or other people determined by law. The validity of the transfer of land rights based on the letter of inheritance statement issued by the sub-district for Chinese ethnicity are present in the article 1074 of Civil Law Code as a legal basis
