  • Anemia is a medical condition where hemoglobin levels are less than normal. Anemia in adolescent girls is still quite high, according to the World Health Organization 2015, the prevalence of anemia in the world ranges from 40-88%. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and relationship between body mass index (BMI) contribution, nutrient intake, and knowledge of the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls in SMA Negeri 1 SP Padang in 2019. The research design used was quantitative with cross sectional approach. The number of subjects of this study were 70 respondents of SMAN 1 SP Padang by using purposive sampling. Univariate analysis results showed the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls in SMA Negeri 1 SP Padang was 65.7%. the conclusion of this study there is a significant relationship between knowledge (p value = 0.009), iron intake (p value = 0.010), and vitamin C intake (p value = 0.0001), with the incidence of anemia. There is no significant relationship between the BMI variable (p value = 0.111) and protein intake (p value = 0.269) with the incidence of anemia, the results of multivariate analysis that vitamin C (PR 27.765). efforts to increase prevention of anemia need to be done such as periodic HB examinations, providing counseling about anemia and Fe tablets given to young women.
