  • This study was aim at producinh a story book with a favorite animal theme which valid and practical for children Playing Group in IT Kindergarten Izzuddin Palembang. The development method used was the Rowntree development model with Tessmer evaluation. The Rowntree development model consists of three stages, namely the planning, development and evaluation phases. In the evaluation phase, there are 4 forms of evaluation, consisting of self evaluation, expert review, One to one evaluation and small group evaluation. Data were collected through interview, walkthrough and observation techniques. The results showed that the validity of the material / content and product design included in the category was very valid with the average value of 3.75. Developed products was very feasible, both in terms of material, theme of the story, the contents of the book, the suitability of the language development needs of children aged 2-4 years, and linguistic components. Media is valued from book packaging, display design, letter usage, and illustration of images. The practicality test of picture story book based on observation when one to one evaluation and small group evaluation obtained the average value 94% category very practical. It is said to be very practical because the illustrated picture book product can be applied easily and appealing to playgroup children. The weakness of this product is found in the attraction indicator that is when listening to the teacher tells the story. Children are less focused on sharing teachers because the style of the teacher tells the story less interesting. It can be concluded that the developed book is included in the category of practical and valid.
