STUDI PENGARUH UKURAN BUTIR BATUBARA TERHADAP EMISI GAS METANA (CH4) PADA PEMBAKARAN BATUBARA BB-50 PT. BUKIT ASAM (PERSERO), TBK
Daftar Isi:
- Methane gas emission is a pollutant that can harm environment and human health. Methane gas produced by many sources, one of them is coal mining. Methane gas emission can be formed in mining activities and coal combustion. Coal grain size produced from mining activities and which will be used as a fuel is various. Coal grain size in mining usually consist of large to fine grained, while coal grain size which will be used as a fuel is different depending on the specification of boiler. This research was conducted to analyze the correlation between coal grain size and methane gas emission in coal combustion. Coal sample used in this research taken from PT. Bukit Asam (Persero), Tbk Unit Dermaga Kertapati Palembang with calorie value 5.617 kkal/kg. Coal sample grain size consists of +4 mesh, -4+6 mesh, -6+8 mesh, -8+20 mesh, and -20 mesh. Coal combustion is carried out by using modified coal combustion oven based on coal fixed bed combustion system. The coal combustion oven is equipped with gas trap connected to the multi gas detector. Methane gas concentration can be known from the measurement of multigas detector. Based on the measurement, the amount of average methane gas emission concentration of each coal grain size is different. The result of data analysis showing that the smaller coal grain size produced less methane gas emission of coal combustion. This happens because small coal has low porosity so the gas content will also be less.
