  • Background: Scabies is a skin disease that is caused by Sarcoptes scabiei varietas hominis mites infestation. This disease is known by society as kudis . S. scabiei life cycle depends on human skin as its habitat. In Indonesia, scabies is the third most common skin disease. Risk factors that can cause scabies are bad personal hygiene and living in a dense surroundings such as in boarding school . The purpose of this study is knowing the association between personal hygiene and scabies incidence in s tudents of Qodratullah Boarding School Desa Langkan Banyuasin. Method: This study is an observational analytics with cross sectional design. The sampel of this study is students who live in Qodratullah Boarding School that fulfill the inclusion criterias. Data collecting is done by filling questionaires. Clinical diagnosis of scabies is determined by 4 cardinal symptomps, itchiness especially during night time, attacks a group of people, a lesion is found in predilecting locations, and S. scabiei is found m icroscopically. Results: Fromthe analysis done in 250 respondents, the incidence of scabies id 36,4% with clinical diagnosis and 36,3% with microscopic examination. Based on statistic test, there is an association between personal hygiene and the incidence of scabies (p = 0,000). Conclusion: There is a association between personal hygiene and scabies incidence in students of Qoratullah Boarding School Desa Langkan Banyuasin.
