  • The coastal area of the village of Sei Nagalawan is an area that has an excellent mangrove forest potentials, such as shrimp and crab farming, agriculture, ship workshop as well as a small boat passage to transport tourists visiting the region. Over utilization of mangrove ecosystems was predicted causes waters contamination by heavy metals. The purpose of this research is to know the ability of A. marina in accumulating heavy metal and to analyze the content of heavy metal Plumbum (Pb) on roots, barks, and leaves of mangrove A. marina. This research was conducted in Nipah’s Mangrove, Sei Nagalawan Village, Serdang Bedagai North Sumatera. The analysis of using heavy metals is conducted in research centre and industrial standardization, Medan by using the Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy method. The result of this research showed that the highest content of heavy metal in the roots, barks and leaves are 0,05 mg/kg , 0,06 mg/kg and 0,008 mg/kg, respectively. Therefore the ability of A. marina in accumulating heavy metal Pb is classified very low.Keyword: : Avicennia marina, AAS, Heavy Metal, Plumbum (Pb), Kampung Nipah
