- Belawan Sicanang village is one villages in Medan Belawan Sub-district. One of the livelihoods in Sicanang was fishermen. The fishing equipment used was Bubu (fish trap). Bait commonly used such as Valamugil cannesius, Oreochromis mossambicus , and Monopterus albus. The study aimed to determine the effect of the type of bait on the catch of Mangrove Crabs (Scylla serrata) and find out the best bait in catching of Crab. The study was used Completely Randomized Design method. To know the influence of the type of bait on the catch of Crab used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and LSD (Least Significant Difference) test, and knowing the best type of bait then the average difference test by result of coefficient value of diversity of research data. From the result of ANOVA, that the type of bait had a significant effect on the catch of Crabs. The result of LSD test was found that best bait was Eel fish.Keywords : Mangrove Crab, Bait, Fish Trap, Belawan Sicanang Village.
