- This dataset comprises information on Danish roe deer (Capreolus capreolus). All eligible samples were examined for the presence of Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) neutralizing antibodies. A selected group of roe deer was also tested for the infectious rate of Anaplasma phagocytophilum. Danish hunters were asked to obtain blood samples from the thoracic cavity of roe deer when dressing freshly killed animals in the field, during the hunting season of 2013 and 2014 (October 1, 2013-January 31, 2014 [Autumn/Winter] and May 15–July 15, 2014 [Spring/Summer]). A small portion of the roe deer was killed as part of a tracking hound operation for wounded or traffic injured game and was therefore sampled between the two hunting seasons.
