This dataset includes information about the optical, structural and electrochemical characterization of nickel oxide thin films synthesized through pulsed laser deposition. Different samples with variable thickness and structural properties were synthesized and characterized. Transmittance spectra of nickel oxide thin films deposited on fluorine doped tin oxide covered glass. The light transmittance in the UV-VIS-NIR range was evaluated after electrochemical cycles both in anodic and cathodic conditions. Raman spectra of the thin films as deposited. Stability of the FTO/NiOx electrodes under anodic conditions, in alkaline environment. Cyclic voltammetry curves measured on the FTO/NiOx electrodes in alkaline solution. Linear sweep voltammetry curves that show the catalytic performance of the synthesized thin films for water oxidation.</description><subject>Catalysis</subject><subject>Electrochemistry</subject><subject>Nanomaterials</subject><subject>Nickel</subject><subject>Pulsed Laser Deposition</subject><subject>Thin Film Characterization</subject><subject>Electrochromics</subject><subject>Water Splitting</subject><contributor>Orlandi, Michele</contributor><contributor>Bazzanella, Nicola</contributor><contributor>Popat, Yaksh</contributor><contributor>Minati, Luca</contributor><contributor>Speranza, Giorgio</contributor><contributor>Miotello, Antonio</contributor><type>Other:Dataset</type><identifier>10.17632/tf4frwtctr.1</identifier><rights>Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported</rights><rights>https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0</rights><relation>https:/data.mendeley.com/datasets/tf4frwtctr</relation><date>2019-03-08T10:41:18Z</date><recordID>0.17632-tf4frwtctr.1</recordID></dc>
