The compressed file contains the program code and test data. The program code files are applied to evaluate the contribution of terrain sampling points to local morphological changes. Among them, JESA is the new algorithm proposed in our study, ES and DS are existing algorithms, mainly used for comparison of results. The test data are multi-beam topographic sampling data and segmented according to the geomorphological boundary, which are used for the experiment of different geomorphological types. In the case of higher thinning proportion (TP), the JESA-based thinning method is superior to ES-based and DS-based thinning methods in terms of the retention of terrain feature information and the rationality of points distribution. </description><subject>Measures of Complexity</subject><subject>Terrain</subject><subject>Thinning</subject><type>Other:Dataset</type><identifier>10.17632/4kn596vg37.1</identifier><rights>Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International</rights><rights>http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0</rights><relation>https:/data.mendeley.com/datasets/4kn596vg37</relation><date>2018-11-16T02:07:34Z</date><recordID>0.17632-4kn596vg37.1</recordID></dc>
