  • The problems of the research were the students’ ability in writing english sentences and the students’ low involvement in teaching and learning process. Those were due to the techniques used by the teacher which were not appropriate. This research aimed at improving ability in writing english sentences through student teams achievement division strategy at the fifth year of MI Mathlabul Ulum Tapung Regency of Kampar. This study was classroom action research which was conducted for three months it had two cycles. One cycle had two meetings. Based on the data analysis, it was found the student improvement in writing English sentences in the first cycle catagorized into enough, and the students’ improvement in the second cycle categorized into enough. It can be concluded that teaching writing English sentences by using student teams achievement division could better improve the students ability and the students’ participation in teaching and learning process
