  • This research was conducted based on the problems faced by the students in learning English especially in narrative paragraphs. The objective of this research was to find the significant difference of the students’ writing ability in narrative paragraphs taught without using Author’s Chair Strategy and taught by using Author’s Chair Strategy. The subject of this research was the eight grade students of State Junior High School 10 Tapung Kampar Regency. The design of the research was a quasi experimental research. In this research, the researcher analyzed the data with independent sample t-test by using SPSS 16.0 Version. From the research findings, the researcher found the mean score of students’ post-test in control class was 63.18. Meanwhile the mean score of students’ post-test in experimental class was 73.72. The result of t-observed of significant difference between students’ writing ability in narrative paragraphs taught by using Author’s Chair Strategy and taught without using Author’s Chair Strategy was 9.662. This result was higher than t-table significance of 5% is 2.01 and 1% is 2.68. It means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted.
