- Based on the writer’s preliminary study, the grade eleventh students of State Senior High School 1 Bangkinang Seberang had problems. There were a lot of students that were not able to write well the procedure text. For example, some of the students could not arrange the sequence of the content of procedure text and make a good step of instructions in the procedure text. So, the writer was interested in carrying out the research about this problem. The research was administered at State Senior High School I (SMAN I) Bangkinang Seberang. The subject of the research was the eleventh grade students of social science at State Senior High School I Bangkinang Seberang (SMAN I) Bangkinang Seberang, and the object of this research was the effect of Power Notes Strategy. The design of this research was Quasi- experimental design. The population of this research was all of the eleventh grade students. The total number of population was 102 students. Because the number of population was large, the researcher used cluster random sampling by taking two classes only as sample; IPS XI. 3 consisted of 25 students as experimental group, and IPS XI. 1 consisted of 25 students as control group, so the numbers of sample from two classes was 50 students. To analyze the data, the researcher adopted the independent sample t-test formula by using SPSS 16. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that there was a significant effect of Power Notes strategy on the writing ability procedure text of the eleventh grade students of social science at State senior high school I (SMAN I) Bangkinang Seberang, where to t-obtained was 10.707compared with t-table of df = 24 in significance of 5% and 1 % became 2.06 <10.707>2.80. then the number of significance was 0.000 > 0.05. From the result of the percentage of coefficient affect, it can be seen that Power notes strategy contributed 30.8% for students’ writing ability on procedure text.
