  • Based on the priliminary study at the second year students at MTs N Kuntu Kampar Kiri district, the researcher found some problems faced by the students in term of learning English, especially in reading narrative text. The problems were; some of the students were not able to identify the general information of narrative text, some of the students were not able to find out the main idea of narrative text, some of the students were not able to identify the generic structure of narrative text, some of the students were not able to identify the meaning of several words in narrative text, and some of the students were not able to make inference from narrative text. To solve these problems, the researcher proposed a strategy named Graffiti strategy. The objective of the research was to find out whether there is a significant effect of using Graffiti strategy on reading comprehension of the second year students at MTs N Kuntu Kampar Kiri district. The design of the research was Quasi-Experimental research. The researcher used non-equivalent control group design. The subject of the research was the second year students at MTs N Kuntu Kampar Kiri district that cosisted of 47 students. In collecting the data of this research, the researcher used test. The test was given twice. The first was pretest; used to measure the students’ reading comprehension before giving the treatment, and the second was post-test; used to measure the students’ reading comprehension after giving the treatment for experimental class and after giving no treatment for control class. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Independent sample T-test formula by using SPSS 16.0 version in order to find out the effect of using graffiti strategy toward students’ reading comprehension of the second year at MTs N Kuntu Kampar kiri district. Based on the data analysis, the score of t obtained is higher than t table. It means that H a is accepted and Ho is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using graffiti strategy on reading comprehension of the second year students at MTs N Kuntu Kampar Kiri District
