  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the comparison between the Imagery strategy and Cubing Strategy on students’ writing ability. The designresearchwas a Quasi-Experimental Research by comparing two strategies of two experimental groups and one control group of pretest-posttest design.90 participants were involved of two experimental groups and one control group of the students of State Junior High School 2 of Kampar. Nine research questions and nine hypotheses wereproposed in this research to determine the significant differences effect between Imagery and Cubing strategies on students' writing ability. Pretest and posttest were given in this research and independent sample t-test anda paired sample t-test were used to analyze the data.The results indicated that there was no significant effect in post-test score between an experimental class 1 using Imagery strategy and an experimental class 2 using Cubing strategy on students’ writing ability. The Imagery strategy contributed 68% to the improvement of students' writing ability, while the Cubing contributed 72%, and on the other hand, the control class contributed 10%. Finally, it was concluded that both Imagery and Cubing strategies can be applied in teaching writing ability at State Junior High School 2 Kampar.
