  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the comparison between the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) strategy and Think Talk Write Strategy (TTW ) on students’ writing ability. The design research was a Quasi-Experimental Research by comparing two strategies of two experimental groups and one control group of pretestposttest design. 90 participants were involved of two experimental groups and one control group of the students of Junior High School 1 of Kampar Timur. Three research questions and nine hypotheses were proposed in this research to determine the significant differences effect between PWIM and TTW strategies on students' writing ability. Pretest and posttest were given in this research and independent sample t-test and a paired sample t-test were used to analyze the data. The results indicated that there was no significant effect in post-test score between an experimental class 1 using PWIM strategy and an experimental class 2 using TTW strategy on students’ writing ability. The PWIM strategy contributed 79% to the improvement of students' writing ability, while the TTW contributed 75%, and on the other hand, the control class contributed 13%. Finally, it was concluded that both PWIM and TTW strategies can be applied in teaching writing ability at State Junior High School 1 Kampar Timur.
