- This research had 3 formulation of the problem that how is students' metacognitive awareness of the second grade at State Islamic Junior High School Bukit Raya Pekanbaru, how is students’ reading comprehension in narrative text of the second grade at State Islamic Junior High School Bukit Raya Pekanbaru, and is there any significant correlation between students’ metacognitive awareness and their reading comprehension in narrative text at State Islamic Junior High School Bukit Raya Pekanbaru. This research was conducted to find out the significant correlation between students’ metacognitive awareness and their reading comprehension in narrative text at State Islamic Junior High School Bukit Raya Pekanbaru. This research was correlational research. There were two variables used in this research. The first was X variable (students’ metacognitive awareness) and Y variable (students’ reading comprehension in narrative text). The subject of this research was the second grade students of State Islamic Junior High School Bukit Raya Pekanbaru, while the object of this research was metacognitive awareness and reading comprehension in narrative text. The population of the research was 30 students. Then, in taking the sample, the writer employed simple random sampling. In collecting the data, the writer used questionnaire and test. Questionnaire was used to determine the students’ metacognitive and test was used to determine the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text. After analyzing the data, there was a significant correlation between students’ metacognitive awareness and their reading comprehension in narrative text at State Islamic Junior High School Bukit Raya Pekanbaru. The score of correlation coefficient 0.4256 ≥ 0.361 in significant level 5% (see appendix 5). It mean that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.
