  • The quasi experimental research was conducted based on the problems faced by students in reading comprehension of descriptive text. The problems were: identifying the main idea, generic structure, communicative purpose, meaning of vocabulary and identifying detail information. So, the researcher was interested in carrying out the research about these problems by using Numbered Heads Togeteher (NHT) technique. The Purpose of this research was to determine whether there is any significance difference between taught and without being taught by using NHT technique on students’ reading comprehension at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 1 Tambang. The design of this research was a quasi experimental design. In collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choices test, to find out the students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text. To analyze the data, the researcher adopted independent sample T-test formula by using SPSS 20 version. The researcher found that there was a significant difference taught by using NHT technique on students’ reading comprehension at tenth grade of State Senior High School 1 Tambang, where to shows 5.274 in the significance level of 5% was 2.00, and in the level of 1% was 2.65. It can be shown by 2.00<5.274> 2.65. Significance was 0.000 < 0.05. So, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.
