THE EFFECT OF USING CIRCLE STORY STRATEGY ON STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION OF NARRATIVE TEXT AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL PGRI TEMBILAHAN

- Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation at Senior High School PGRI Tembilahan, the researcher found that some of students of the second year still can not understand the meaning of narrative text correctly. This research had four formulations of the problem they are how students’ reading comprehension of narrative text taught by using and without using circle story strategy is, and whether there is any significant difference and effect of using circle story strategy on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at Senior High School PGRI Tembilahan. The objective of this research was to find out whether there is any significant difference and effect of using circle story strategy on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at Senior High School PGRI Tembilahan. The population of this research was all the second year students that consisted of 34 students. Considering that population was small, the researcher took all classes as be sample; XI IPA consisted of 19 students as experimental class, and XI IPS consisted 15 students as control class. To analyze the data, the researcher adopted Independent sample T-test formula by using SPSS 16. However, the type of this research was Quasi-experiment. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that there is a significant effect of using circle story strategy on students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at Senior High School PGRI Tembilahan, where to shows 3.810 in the significant level 5% was 2.03, and in the level 1% is 2.72. Then, null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, which was shown by 2.03<3.810> 2.72. Key Word: Effect, Circle Story Strategy, Reading Comprehension
