  • Based on the researcher preliminary study, it was found the problems in speaking English. The problems are some of the students were not able to pronounce English word accurately, some of the students were not able to speak English fluently, some of students were not able to speak English in correct grammar, some of students did not use appropriate vocabulary in English, and some of the students were not able to comprehend English accurately. So, the researcher was interested in using Crisscross Game as an alternative solution for students’ speaking ability. This research used a quasi- experimental research. Two groups of pretest and posttest design were used; one group was an experimental group getting the treatment by using Crisscross Game. In contrast, another did not get it and involved as a control group. The population of this research was 114 students, and the total sample was 56 students that consisted of two classes. The sampling technique chosen was cluster sampling. The oral presentation test was given to both groups in order to assess the students’ ability in speaking. The Mean, standard deviation and t test were used to analyze the quantitative data. The results revealed that although both group showed improvement on students’ speaking ability, the experimental group given Crisscross Game gave significant effect to the students’ speaking ability in which Sig 2-Tailed = 0.000 is smaller than 0.005. Thus, Crisscross Game has a significant effect on developing students’ speaking ability. In conclusion, using Crisscross Game has given a better effect to students’ speaking ability at the second year of Junior High School 3 Tambang. Key Word : Effect, Crisscross Game, Speaking Ability
