  • This research analyzed the correlation between reading interest and vocabulary mastery in report text. The objectives of the research are to know the score of reading interest, the score of vocabulary mastery, and to prove the significant correlation between reading interest and vocabulary mastery. This research paper intended to be a descriptive quantitative research. The writer applied questionnaire to found the score of student’s reading interest, and the writer applied test to found the score of vocabulary mastery of the eleven grade of State Senior High School 2 Tambang. Then, the writer applied correlation formula to proven the significant correlation between reading interest and vocabulary mastery. The result of this research showed that score of reading interest of students at State Senior High School 2 Tambang is good. It can be seen from the highest percentage of interest classification of students’ questionnaire score was 75.4%. Thus, the majority of the students’ reading interest was classified as good reading interest category. In this research also showed that score of vocabulary mastery the respondents is good. It was known from the highest percentage of vocabulary mastery classification of students’ test score was 54%. Thus, the majority of the students’ vocabulary mastery was classified as average to good category. Then the result of correlation formula showed that significant correlation was found of students’ reading interest score to their vocabulary mastery in report text. So, in the conclusion p was 0.000, the 2-tailed value was smaller than 0.05 (p<0.05). The result showed that the scores did correlate between students’ reading interest score to their vocabulary mastery score in report text at State Senior High school 2 Tambang. Based on the analysis, the hypotheses Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. So, it can be concluded that “There is significant correlation between students’ reading interest and their vocabulary mastery in report text at State Senior High school 2 Tambang.” Key words: correlation study, reading interest, vocabulary mastery.
