  • The aims of this research were to determine self-efficacy of the tenth grade students at State Senior High School 1 Kampar Kiri Tengah, to investigate their speaking ability, and to determine whether there was or not significant correlation between self-efficacy and speaking ability. This was a correlational design research, questionnaire was used to determine self-efficacy result and their recorded speaking performance audio documentation was used to determine the speaking ability which had been evaluated by two raters. Overall population of the research was 212 students, and by simple random sampling method, the researcher make 33 of them as the respondents. The researcher used Pearson product moment correlation coefficient, the result of the analysis was helped by SPSS 21.00 program. It showed that ro = 0.903, is bigger than r table 5% (0.349). It can be concluded that Null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted. In other words, there was no significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and students’ speaking ability at state Senior High School 1 Kampar Kiri Tengah. Thus, it could be concluded that students’ self-efficacy level would not influence the students’ speaking ability at state Senior High School 1 Kampar Kiri Tengah.
