  • The objective of this research was to find out whether there was any significant effect between students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text taught and without taught by using cooperative script strategy. The design of this research was a quasy experimental design. The subject of this research was the students of the tenth grade at State Senior High School 1 Lintau Buo Tanah Datar Regency. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling. The sample was class X IPS 4 that consisted of 30 students as an experimental class, and class X IPS 3 consisted of 30 students as a control class. So, the number of sample from two classes was 60 students. To analyze the data, the researcher adopted Independent Sample T-Test formula by using SPSS 17.version and effect size. After analyzing the data, it can be seen from the research finding that the score of sig. result was 0.000. It can be read that 0.000<0.05. Thus, the researcher concluded that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Besides, the researcher also found that the result of effect size was 0.38. It means that there was significant effect of using Cooperative Script Strategy on students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text of the tenth grade at State Senior High School 1 Lintau Buo Tanah Datar Regency.
