  • The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between students’ learning style and listening comprehension in recount story of the eighth grade students at MTs. Ummatan Wasathan Islamic Boarding School of Technology Riau. From 85 students of the population, which consisted of 3 classes, the researcher took 85 students of the eighth grade students at MTs. Ummatan Wasathan Islamic Boarding School of Technology Riau as the sample by using total sampling. The instruments of this research were test and questionnaire. The test was about listening in recount story in which there were 42 items by using multiple choices. The questionnaire consisted of 48 items. By using Chi-Square formula through SPSS 4202 versions. In analyzing the data, the researcher found that the values of Sig. (4-sided) was 206.5, and the data was significant level of 85. In the other words, Sig. (4-sided) is higher than 2028 (Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected). It means that there is no correlation between students’s learning style and listening comprehension in recount story at MTs. Ummatan Wasathan Islamic Boarding School of Technology Riau. Based on the results, it is found that the majority of students at the eighth grade of MTs. Ummatan Wasathan Islamic Boarding School of Technology Riau learning styles are Visual (620325), Auditory (340.85), and Kinesthetic (6.5.5). And based on the Cramer’s V value (204..), the effect of students’ learning style and listening comprehension is categorized into medium effect. It means that there is a medium association between learning style and listening comprehension in recount story. Key words: Learning style, listening comprehension, and relationship.
