THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STUDENTS’ WATCHING ENGLISH ANIMATION INTEREST AND THEIR LISTENING COMPREHENSION OF SECOND YEAR AT STATE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 6 PEKANBARU

- In this study, the researcher aimed to find out the correlation between students’ watching English animation interest and their listening comprehension of second year at SHS 6 Pekanbaru. The specific objective of this research was to find out whether there is a significant correlation between students’ watching English animation and their listening comprehension or not. This study was conducted at SHS 6 Pekanbaru. The population in this study was 342 students and the sample was 80 students. For the technique of taking sample, researcher used stage sampling technique. The instruments used to acquire the data were questionnaire and multiple-choice test. The researcher tried out the test to the students out of sample. By using Cronbach-Alpha method using SPSS 17.0 program, at 0.5 level significance, the researcher found the reliability of questionnaire was 0.847 and the reliability of multiple choice test was 0.429. It means both the instruments were reliable, however the instruments were valid in terms of content validity. From the data analysis with the Pearson Product-Moment formula, the result obtained r = 0.219<0.418>0.286. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, there is a significant relationship between students’ watching English animation interest and their listening comprehension of second year at SHS 6 Pekanbaru.
