  • Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation and information from the English teacher at the eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru, it was found that some of the eight grade students had problems in reading comprehension, especially in narrative text. They could not reach the passing grade. The main focuses of this research were to find out whether there was a significant effect of using Fiction Furrow Reader Strategy on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at the eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru. The researcher formulated the problems that would be answered by using the quantitative research. This research had two variables Using Fiction Furrow Reader Strategy as an independent variable and students’ reading comprehension as a dependent variable. The type of research was a Quasi-experimental research. The subject of this research was the eight grade students of Islamic Junior High School Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru. The researcher took two classes: experimental and control class. There were 55 students as sample from 84 eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru. In collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choice test. In analyzing the data, the writer used an independent t-test formula by using SPSS 22 version. Based on the analysis of T-test Formula, Ha was accepted because the sig. value was 0.005<0.05. Then, the effect size was 0.14 at High level, thus Ha was accepted. The researcher concluded that there is a significant effect of using Fiction Furrow Reader Strategy on reading comprehension of narrative at the eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru.
