  • This research was conducted based on the problems faced by the students in learning English especially in reading descriptive text. The writer found that the students still had difficulties in comprehending the reading text especially in descriptive text. This research aimed at knowing whether there is or not significant difference of using Structured Note-Taking Strategy on students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text between taught without using Structured Note-Taking Strategy and taught by using it. In this case, the writer provided Structured Note-Taking Strategy to help students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text. This research was an experimental research. The technique of collecting data used by writer was test. Finally, based on the research findings, the writer concluded that there was a significant difference between students’ reading comprehension taught by using Structured Note-Taking Strategy. The writer found that sig (2 tailed) was 0.000 less than 0.05. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. In other words, there is a significant differences on students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text between taught without and by using Structured Note-Taking Strategy. Furthermore, there is a significant efffect of using the Structured Note-Taking strategy on the students’ reading comprehension of descriptive texts at the tenth grade of State Senior High school 1 Siak, in which the result of eta squared 0.66.
